Investing can be made endlessly complicated. We're going to explain all of it with surfing.
Traders lose to the market for one reason — they try to beat it. The market is a giant collective intelligence of tens of millions of investors, funds, and machines; any good news you know, everyone knows. One person's prediction can't win.
It's fallen this far — must be cheap." "It's risen this far — must be due a fall." Everyone thinks it. The real market did the opposite.
You can't out-will this instinct every day. So we don't leave the decision to instinct — we leave it to rules. The four pictures below are the whole rulebook.
Bring in the best surfer in the world — on a flat ocean there is nothing they can do. On a day the waves stand up, almost any decent surfer goes a long way — and there is always one who rides bigger and longer than everyone else.
Stocks are the same. When the market (the ocean) is dead, even great companies go nowhere. When it's strong, good stocks rise together — and a few rise spectacularly.
Real data. Grey is the ocean (the US market), blue is the wave (the stock's axis), red is the surfer (the stock). Watch how tightly they move together — in good stretches the wave beats the ocean and the surfer beats the wave; in bad stretches they fall in the same order, harder.
All lines indexed to 100, last ~4 months. A record of the past — not a promise about the future.
The only hard part is watching, daily, for when the ocean starts to move and who rides best — that watching is what TRENDGATE does. And a surfer needn't be a single stock: when a whole sector rides, a sector ETF is a fine surfer too.
Nobody controls which stock rises tomorrow. Only three things are controllable — and they, not stock picks, are the heart of this service.
Grip tight in uptrends; when it rains, step to cash like opening an umbrella — in a downpour even the best umbrella gets you wet. We also publish how deep it got: the backtest's maximum drawdown was −16.9%. Every number, good or bad, is on the backtest page.
Above a cheap stock hang layers of sell bombs — trapped holders waiting to "get out at break-even." Every rally runs into that wall. A stock at a fresh 52-week high has zero trapped holders above it.
Buy not when it's cheap but when it's lightest. Fake breakouts exist, though — so we never look at the high alone: the market must hold (market gate), money must actually be flowing into the axis (sector gate), and earnings must back it up.
Whether this breakout is real or fake, nobody knows in the moment. You can't control whether it rises tomorrow. The one thing you fully control is where you cut when you're wrong.
Color key — red = up / profit · blue = down / loss, everywhere on this site.
Lose 6 trades out of 10 — cut each at −10%, ride the wins past +30% — and the sum of trade returns is +60%. Each trade is 10% of the account (one unit), so that's about +6% on the account, before pyramiding adds to the winners. Payoff, not win rate, grows the account.
그림 속 −10/+30 은 가정이 아니라 실측과 거의 같습니다 — 실제 백테스트의 평균 손실 −9.6% · 평균 수익 +27.7% (매일 밤 다시 계산).The −10/+30 above isn't hypothetical — the live backtest averages −9.6% per loss and +27.7% per win, recomputed nightly.
That's why our backtest win rate of just 32.5% is design, not defect: wrong → the stop is right below, so losses stay small; right → the open sky above a new high lets wins run (payoff 1 : 2.9). Every number is public on the backtest page.
We buy the day it clears its 1-year high — provided the market holds and money is flowing into its axis.
Start with 10% of the account and add only on the way up. Even a stop costs under 1% of the account by design.
More than 5% below the 20-day average → sell everything. We don't sell the top — we sell after confirming the turn. The no-exceptions part is why the account survives.
On bad market days we buy nothing — 28% of the backtest window was spent sitting out (recomputed nightly).
Fair warning — followed properly, individual trades often feel bad. You buy high, you sell below the peak, you stop out often. You have to sit through the unpleasant stretch where profits shrink from the top, because only then can you confirm the wave has truly turned. Selling the exact top is just another prediction. And the 20-day line is merely training wheels for reading the trend's angle — the trend itself is always the real thing.
A tool that answers everyone is trusted by no one. This one is built for trend followers only.
For long-term investors who diversify across regions and asset classes and hold, a separate tool is in the works — built on diversification and rebalancing, the exact opposite of this one. We'll announce it here.

We buy only fresh breakouts — above a new high there are zero trapped sellers. The lightest spot there is.
When it bends we get off at a preset line. That's how the account grows while losing more than half the time — small losses, big wins.
그런 구간까지 포함한 성적 전체가 백테스트에 있습니다.⚠️ One honest note — in sideways, trendless markets this approach bleeds small losses too. The full record, those stretches included, is on the backtest page.

Because "cheap" is itself a prediction. Cheap stocks carry overhead supply and can get cheaper. We buy confirmation, not opinion — a breakout is a checkable fact. 그림으로 보기 →In pictures →
It happens, but it's uncommon — there isn't yet enough closed-trade history for an honest number here. This line becomes a real figure once more trades accumulate.
The rule design is why it stays rare. We don't buy every breakout — only stocks that rank in that day's top-5 axis while the market gate is open, so an unqualified bounce doesn't get a re-entry. Honestly though, the rules cap the size of each loss, not how many times it can happen. In a sideways, range-bound market this stop-then-reenter pattern can show up more often than in a trending one. 청산 기록 전체 보기 →The full closed-trade log →
Whichever trips first. A close 5% below the 20-day average sells everything; a −10% move from a single tranche's buy price sells just that tranche. It's a sell on confirmation the price already crossed the line, never a prediction. 그림으로 보기 →In pictures →
Yes, honestly. In a market that just oscillates, more moves that look like breakouts fizzle quickly, which can mean more stop-outs. For the same reason, fewer stocks tend to clear the gates in those stretches, so the account often just sits mostly in cash instead of trading through it.
Rarer than you'd think. Most days say "nothing to do" — few stocks clear all three gates. Average hold is about a month, and in sideways markets the account may wait in cash for weeks. Enduring boredom is part of the strategy.
